Important Mail Guidelines

Any mail not meeting the following criteria will be destroyed and not returned.

Required for All Incoming Mail:

1. Must include inmate’s full name on the envelope.

2. Must have a return address clearly listed.

3. Must be no larger than 8.5″ x 11″, no thicker than light cardstock, and able to pass through a sheet-fed scanner.

4. All incoming mail will be opened and inspected or read. Violations of jail rules or contraband will result in destruction of the mail.

Prohibited Mail Includes:

• Stamps, blank envelopes, stationery

• Cash, checks, or any form of currency

• Threatening content or criminal activity

• Escape plans or security threats

• Solicitation of money, gifts, or goods (unless from family or close friends)

• Gang symbols, obscene content, or coded messages

Do NOT send:

• Address labels or stickers

• Homemade, musical, or decorated cards

• Colored paper, non-white envelopes

• Drawings with markers, crayons, glitter, or paint

• Tracing paper or coloring book pages

• Anything with white-out, glue, or liquid substances

Photographs

Only photographs printed on photo paper are permitted.

• Limit: 10 photos per mailing

• No printouts from the internet, provocative images, or colored paper

• Provocative material will be defined and rejected at the discretion of jail staff

Items That Will Be Returned to Sender:

• Legal mail or money orders sent to the wrong address

• Certified mail requiring an inmate’s signature

• Any mail with postage due
