Detainee Visitation and Communication
The Wayne County Jail is committed to providing safe and secure methods for detainees to maintain communication with approved family and friends through video visitation, phone calls, and text messaging (Chirping). All services are provided by Combined Public Communications (CPC) and can be accessed through www.inmatesales.com or the InmateSales app, available on both Android and Apple devices.
Inmate Phone & Chirp (Texting)
Phone and Chirp (text messaging) services are available to all detainees in custody. Family and friends may purchase time for these services by:
- Creating an account at www.inmatesales.com
- Downloading the InmateSales app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store
These funds are deposited directly to the detainee’s communication account, which can be used for phone calls or secure text messaging (Chirp).
Inmate Video Visitation
The Wayne County Jail utilizes video visitation only, with options for both onsite and offsite visits through Combined Public Communications.
- Onsite Visitation (Free of Charge)
- DAYS: Wednesdays (5:00 PM – 8:00 PM) & Saturdays (1:00 PM – 4:00 PM)
- LOCATION: Wayne County Jail Visitation Room
- LIMIT: One 15-minute visit per inmate per day
- COST: Free
- SCHEDULING: All visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance at www.inmatesales.com or through the app.
- Offsite Visitation (Paid Option)
- DAYS: Available 7 days a week.
- LIMIT: Inmates may receive multiple offsite visits per day
- LOCATION: Conducted using a personal smart device or computer
- COST: Fees apply, to be paid by the visitor
- SCHEDULING: Schedule visits in advance through www.inmatesales.com or via the InmateSales mobile app
Important Visitation Rules & Conduct:
Visitation is a privilege and all visits—onsite or remote—are monitored by Correctional Staff. Visits may be denied, canceled, or terminated for inappropriate behavior or policy violations.
Please be aware of the following guidelines:
- All visits must be scheduled 24 hours in advance
- Cell phones are prohibited in the onsite visitation area
- Recording of visits is strictly prohibited
- Inappropriate behavior, including vulgar or threatening language, will result in termination of the visit
- Visitors must wear appropriate, non-provocative attire
- Detainees are not allowed to visit or communicate with victims in domestic violence, sexual assault/abuse, or order of protection cases
- Any visitor who negatively impacts the wellbeing or mental state of a detainee may have their visitation rights revoked
Other Communication Options:
Correctional staff do not deliver personal messages to detainees unless it is an emergency and approved by jail administration. Communication between detainees within the jail is prohibited. All other correspondence must be sent via U.S. Mail.
The Wayne County Jail was built in 1993 and is a 34 bed facility. We offer a full service kitchen and laundry facility.
